PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding a $15,000 motorized surfboard and a $1,100 hydraulic post driver following the arrest of a Port Angeles man in connection with a residential burglary at Lake Sutherland on Sept. 21.
James D. Pedrioli, Jr., 51, of Port Angeles, who was booked into the Clallam County jail on Sept. 25, remained in custody on Sunday for investigation of first-degree theft, first-degree trafficking in stolen property, residential burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle.
He was charged Sept. 26 in Clallam County Superior Court with residential burglary, first-degree theft and possession of a stolen vehicle. Bail was $30,000.
Sheriff’s deputies had investigated at about 6 p.m. Sept. 21 a report of a residential burglary near Lake Sutherland, about 17 miles west of Port Angeles, according to a press release from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
The homeowners reported several items were stolen from their garage, including a “JetSurf” motorized surfboard valued at $15,000 and a “Man Saver” hydraulic post driver valued at $1,100, the release said.
They offered a reward for recovery of the items, which led to a tip that the surfboard was at a Port Angeles residence, but it wasn’t found.
The homeowners also were told the suspected burglar went by the street name “Pepperoni,” which deputies recognized as being associated with Pedrioli, the release said.
Deputies served a search warrant at Pedrioli’s Port Angeles residence on Sept. 22 and located the cutoff switches to the stolen surfboard.
On Sept. 25, sheriff’s deputies and Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team detectives arrested Pedrioli at a Sequim residence and booked him into jail, according to the release.
Deputies later discovered he was a suspect in a motor vehicle theft in Jefferson County. The vehicle was recovered during Pedrioli’s arrest.
