Clallam County deputies recover stolen truck, make arrests

Vehicle taken from Forks area

SEQUIM — Two Clallam County residents were taken into custody after they were found in possession of a stolen truck in the Sequim area.

Andrew P. Benson, 26, of Port Angeles, and Kami Johnson, 25, of Sequim were booked into the Clallam County jail Wednesday after they were found with a Ford pickup that had been reported stolen, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said.

On Thursday, Benson remained in jail without bond on investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle and an outstanding arrest warrant.

Johnson, who deputies said was arrested for investigation of second-degree possession of stolen property and an outstanding arrest warrant, was not listed on the jail roster on Thursday.

At about 7:37 p.m. Wednesday, deputies investigated a report of possible stolen vehicle in a Sequim driveway. The vehicle and registration matched a vehicle reported stolen from the Forks area a couple days prior, deputies said. They found Benson standing next to the red Ford truck and Johnson in the passenger seat, they said.

Benson had the keys and fob to the stolen pickup in his pocket, deputies said. Johnson was initially arrested on an arrest warrant, but during a search of her purse, deputies located a stolen fuel card that belonged to the owner of the stolen pickup, the Sheriff’s Office said. The stolen truck was impounded.
