PORT ANGELES — An amended complaint against a former Olympic Medical Center emergency department physician added an additional felony charge for allegedly sexually assaulting six female patients.
Josiah Hill, 40, appeared Friday via Zoom for a motion hearing in Clallam County Superior Court.
Hill was working for Peninsula Emergency Services, Inc., which provided physicians for OMC’s emergency room when the alleged crimes occurred.
Michele Devlin, Clallam County chief criminal deputy prosecuting attorney, on Sept. 14 filed an amended criminal complaint that brought the charges against Hill to six counts of indecent liberties by a health care provider and one count of second-degree rape by a health care provider.
Devlin told Judge Simon Barnhart that law enforcement was continuing its investigation and the state was prepared for the Jan. 22, 2024, trial date. Hill’s attorney Jared Ausserer agreed to keeping the date.
Ausserer and Devlin agreed to complete an omnibus order for a hearing to discuss pretrial matters pertaining to Hill’s case.
Hill was arrested by the Port Angeles Police Department on July 14, 2022, and entered a plea of not guilty at his arraignment on July 29. He has been free on $200,000 bail since July 2022 and placed on electronic monitoring and surrendered his passport.
Hill was put on administrative leave following the first allegation against him on April 16, 2022, and on July 21 the state Department of Health suspended his medical license pending further legal action.
A status hearing for Hill’s case has been set for Oct. 27.
