BRINNON — A Brinnon man is in custody in the Jefferson County Jail for investigation of second-degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and a federal probation violation.
Daniel J. Gilmore, 52, remained in the jail on $150,000 bail on Wednesday.
He was booked on Tuesday, according to the jail’s records.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested him after a report of an altercation and gunshots in Brinnon.
A man, who was bleeding from the head, said that Gilmore, who is not allowed to possess firearms, pistol-whipped him and fired a pistol during the confrontation, according to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Gilmore fled the scene, deputies said.
They discovered that he had an outstanding U.S. Marshals Service warrant for a weapons violation and thus was not allowed to possess firearms.
They were unable to locate him until they received information that he was back in the area.
Deputies said they located a loaded Glock handgun in his possession that later was found to be stolen.
