PORT TOWNSEND — A 47-year-old Bremerton man is in custody after deputies used spike strips and a pursuit immobilization technique to end a chase Sunday morning.
Curtis Edward Allen was booked into the Jefferson County jail at 8:24 a.m. Sunday for investigation of eluding a police vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, possession of vehicle theft tools, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.
At about 5:53 a.m., a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle driven erratically on state Highway 104 before the driver fled northbound on state Highway 19, according to a press release.
Officials from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office did not return calls Sunday.
Deputies deployed spike strips and deflated one tire while the driver attempted to swerve around the strips.
The driver continued to drive erratically while attempting to elude deputies before they used a PIT maneuver to end the chase.
According to the release, deputies said the vehicle Allen was driving was stolen in Kitsap County and that Allen had multiple warrants for his arrest, showed signs of drug impairment and was in possession of methamphetamine and motor vehicle theft tools.
Allen is expected to appear in Jefferson County Superior Court on Tuesday.
