Blyn man to be sentenced for domestic violence

PORT ANGELES — A Blyn man is facing at least 17½ years in prison for domestic violence crimes, the Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced.

Nikolas Reinhardt Clark, 30, pleaded guilty Thursday to single counts of second-degree rape with forcible compulsion, third-degree rape, second-degree rape with strangulation, fourth-degree assault and assault in violation of a no-contact order, court papers said.

All five counts carry domestic violence enhancements.

Clark will be sentenced June 14 in Clallam County Superior Court.

He faces a standard sentencing range of 210 months to 280 months, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney James Kennedy said.

Port Angeles police alleged that Clark assaulted and raped a 24-year-old woman he had met on Craigslist.

The woman told investigators that Clark grew increasingly jealous and violent after she refused to have an exclusive relationship with him, according to the affidavit for probable cause.

She told police that Clark beat, strangled and raped her several times between Nov. 10 and Dec. 18.

Clark was arrested Jan. 31 at his work place in Port Hadlock following an investigation. He was originally charged with 11 counts of rape and assault.

In exchange for the guilty plea, Kennedy is recommending for Clark the 210-month sentence on the low end of the sentencing range.

The 17½ -year sentence would be followed by three years community custody.

“Regardless of the sentence that is ultimately imposed by the court, the defendant will be subject to review by the Indeterminate Sentencing Review Board before he will be released from prison,” Kennedy said in a news release.

The state Department of the Corrections will complete a pre-sentencing investigation before Clark is sentenced next month.
