Bail set in rape of a child case

PORT ANGELES — Bail was set at $50,000 Thursday for a 20-year-old Port Angeles man accused of raping a young boy several years ago.

Julian Jason Eren remained in the Clallam County jail Thursday for investigation of first-degree rape of a child.

Charges are expected to be filed at 1 p.m. Monday.

In July the boy told his father that Eren had sexually assaulted him once in Port Angeles and three times in Seattle, court papers say. The incidents allegedly happened when the boy was between the ages of 6 and 7.

The boy told police Eren had “messed” with his “private parts,” court documents say.

The boy’s grandmother told police he had always had anxiety when staying at other people’s homes and that while he was staying at her home one time he cried uncontrollably.

The boy then told his father that after a few incidents with Eren he would do what he could to stay away from Eren.

“Mr. Eren has continued to make a name for himself in regards of sexually motivated crimes,” said Michele Devlin, Clallam County chief criminal deputy prosecuting attorney, on Thursday. “Eren has no discretion in his victims.”

Eren was previously convicted of fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation after a girl told police he had molested her.

He also previously pleaded guilty to burglarizing a home in 2015. A third-degree theft charge was dismissed as part of the plea deal.

Court records say Eren stole a woman’s bras and underwear during the burglary, but returned them after he was confronted.

He was sentenced in February to 10 months for the burglary.

A warrant out of King County was issued Dec. 23 for Eren stemming from allegations of an incident with the same boy in 2009, said Harry Gasnick, Clallam County public defender.
