Authorities seek information about at-large suspect

Convicted felon has evaded authorities

A convicted felon thought to be armed with a handgun has again evaded authorities, who are seeking information on his whereabouts.

Steven D. Goodman, 31, is being sought after a traffic stop on Aug. 17 yielded a cache of drugs and a shotgun, they said. Goodman, a passenger in a Ford Bronco, escaped on foot then, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

This past Monday, authorities called off a pursuit of a black Ford Focus believed to be driven by Goodman after a high-speed case into Port Angeles that included spike strips.

Goodman, who also uses the alias of Teddy Goodman, is described as a white male about 6 feet to 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing about 195 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.

On Aug. 17, deputies said they found 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a loaded 12 gauge, sawed-off shotgun and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia inside the Bronco as well as a Crown Royal bag containing about 60 grams of suspected methamphetamine, over $2,500 in cash, and a wallet containing Goodman’s identification outside of the vehicle.

At 7:50 p.m. this past Monday, the Port Angeles Police Department was asked to deploy spike strips for the Focus that was being pursued by Sequim police officers and Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies.

Spike strips were laid out at North Penn and East Front streets, but the car sped westbound with a PAPD officer in pursuit.

He lost sight of the vehicle at Estuary Park. The pursuit was discontinued for the safety of residents.

The vehicle was last reported seen westbound on U.S. Highway 101 near Dry Creek Road, traveling at a high rate of speed, the PAPD said.

Goodman’s criminal history includes nine felony convictions with the most recent being for robbery, burglary, and unlawful possession of a firearm, authorities said.

Deputies and Port Angeles police officers are looking for any phone or stationary camera video of the suspect vehicle or the pursuit.

Persons with video are asked to call 360-452-4545 and ask to speak to an officer.
