PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man charged with stabbing his roommate in the abdomen in April will get a new trial date later this month.
John Greystoke, 49, is charged with first-degree assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing a man who had been staying at his apartment in the 800 block of South C Street on April 24.
Port Angeles police said a portion of the victim’s intestines were hanging out of his torso from a severe laceration. The man has recovered from his injuries.
In a Friday court hearing, defense attorney Loren Oakley moved to strike his client’s Sept. 19 trial date, saying he needed more time to speak with his client.
Clallam County Superior Court Judge Christopher Melly scheduled a resolve/reset hearing for Aug. 26.
Greystoke’s trial was originally scheduled for June 20.
That date was stricken to bide time for a psychiatric evaluation, court papers said.
