Arrest made in 2020 meth robbery, shooting

Deputies seek two others

SEQUIM — Clallam County deputies arrested this week one man and are seeking two others in connection with a robbery of three pounds of methamphetamine and a shooting that occurred in December 2020 west of Blyn.

Michael Howie, 43, Sequim was booked into the Clallam County jail Wednesday evening for investigation of criminal conspiracy.

He remained in custody on Friday, held on $200,000 bail.

Two men that law enforcement considers to be his accomplices are being sought for investigation of first-degree robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.

One is being sought for attempted first-degree murder.

Howie and the two men also being sought each have at least 10 prior felony convictions but the state’s Three Strikes law only applies to the most serious Class A felonies, said Clallam County Chief Deputy Brian King.

The conspiracy charge is for the drug robbery, King said.

A probably cause statement said that Howie drove the two men to the victim’s recreational vehicle, located in the 800 block of Youngquist Road, to rob him of three pounds of meth, with an estimated street value between $21,000 and $39,000, early Dec. 29, 2020.

The statement said that one of the men shot the victim with a handgun below his left knee, breaking a leg bone, and in his right foot while he was outside his recreational vehicle talking with them.

The man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He has since recovered, according to King.

One suspected accomplice has 10 prior felony convictions, including second-degree assault, third-degree assault, intimidating a witness, unlawful possession of a firearm, first-degree possession of stolen property, two counts of forgery, two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle and first-degree theft.

Felony convictions for the other man being sought include second-degree robbery, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, three counts of identity theft, first-degree theft, second-degree burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Howie has 10 prior felony convictions, including first-degree possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, second-degree malicious mischief, first-degree theft, third-degree assault, first-degree identity theft, two counts of attempt to elude and second degree burglary.
