PORT ANGELES — A status hearing for alleged child rapist Donald Kingsley was postponed Friday because of a pending crime lab investigation, court papers say.
Kingsley, 30, of Port Angeles is charged with first-degree child rape and first-degree child molestation for crimes he allegedly committed against an 8-year-old girl.
Kingsley’s trial was reset last October to allow for evidence testing at a State Patrol crime lab. The one-week trial is now scheduled to begin Jan. 22.
Clallam County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Sarah Woolman reported Friday that the crime lab was still working on evidence, according to the minutes of the hearing.
Superior Court Judge Christopher Melly granted Woolman’s request for a two-week continuance with no objection from defense attorney John Hayden of Clallam Public Defender.
Kingsley has maintained his innocence.
The charges against Kingsley carries special allegations that he was in a position of trust when he committed the alleged offenses.
Kingsley is being held in the Clallam County jail on $100,000 bail.
