PORT ANGELES — Bail of $150,000 was set Monday for a Port Angeles man with a history of eluding police who allegedly kidnapped a female relative Saturday night before he led police on two high-speed chases that resulted in his arrest.
Nicholas R. Blood, 26, remained in the Clallam County jail Monday for investigation of eluding a police vehicle, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and second-degree kidnapping of a 54-year-old woman to whom police said Blood was related.
He was put on a 72-hour hold Monday in Clallam County Superior Court.
Charges are scheduled to be filed at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Clallam County Superior Court.
The chain of events began at 6:49 p.m. Saturday when the woman called authorities and reported Blood had captured her and did not let her out of the vehicle when he passed her home.
She jumped out of the vehicle while it was moving and ran to a nearby home to call authorities in the area of South L Street.
Blood was arrested at 7:36 p.m. following Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. Shaun Minks’ precision immobilization technique, or PIT maneuver, on Blood’s vehicle at the intersection of U.S. Highway 101 and Doyle Road, during which two other deputies also pinned him in with their vehicles, authorities said.
Blood had allegedly raced through Port Angeles and reached 105 mph after turning off state Highway 112 and onto Highway 101.
Before the report of kidnapping, deputies had chased Blood earlier on Highway 101 and called off the pursuit because of high speeds.
He was released from jail Oct. 23 after serving eight months for third-degree assault of an officer and eluding police.
