The DAISY Foundation has recognized Karen Reeder, a registered nurse at Olympic Medical Center’s medication-assisted treatment program, with its DAISY award. The award recognizes extraordinary, compassionate nursing care provided to patients and families. The foundation, which takes its name from the acronym Diseases Attacking the Immune System (DAISY), was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from complications of the auto-immune disease idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.
