Jefferson County Accessible Community Advisory Committee seeks projects

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County Accessible Community Advisory Committee, (ACAC) is looking for projects for its next grant cycle.

Since 2015, the county has received more than $127,000 in funding for projects in education, access and barrier removal.

Some past projects that have qualified for grants include: ADA accessible main doors at the Tri-Area Community Center and the Quilcene Community Center; ADA access at Jefferson County Fairgrounds; “Kids & Disability” books for the YMCA literacy program; marketing materials for the Jefferson Universal Movement Playground (JUMP); Disability Awareness Starts Here (DASH) ADA Venue Guide; wheelchair and walker marketing, signs and brochures for Fort Worden Beach; and co-sponsorship of two films connected with disabilities at the Port Townsend Film Festival.

Grant proposals must be received by 4:30 p.m. Sept. 16.
